I hope you are all doing well in the New Year and rejoicing in the life that we have each day in service to our King.  The past month has been quite good in seeing God’s continual blessing and encouragement in our lives. There are times in my walk where the Word seems very alive and powerful, and other times where I know it is truth and I can sense God’s love in it all, but some of the dynamism just doesn't seem there. It seems like I am in a period in my walk where I am a bit more struck by the power of God’s Word. These verses spoke to me recently:

Psalm 68:5A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.”
Psalm 68:6 “God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.”  (NIV)

Though not complete aliens and strangers in America, our rhythm has been established here where we daily weigh the decisions that we make with our purpose for being here. Our lives are scrutinized here and in many ways that provides an immense amount of accountability for wholeness that we lack in the US (as evidenced by my local friends telling me I got fat while I was in the US).

The last few weeks has brought our fellowship together with stresses of preparing for finals for many of those who are students. In our last meeting for Christmas we got a chance to share and pray together after other guests had left. One of the young women shared how the Holy Spirit had in numerous ways really convicted her to move back into her campus dorm and move out from living in the same apartment as her boyfriend.

Samuel recently went through a serious sickness where Samuel had sores, rashes, and a lot of pain in his whole body that required a week in the hospital and much prayer. We really appreciate your prayer and God’s healing. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for our son’s recovery and seeing his smile and laugh again...

Romans  8:26-27  26 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.”

The major reason for that has been how the Sunday Chinese fellowship we have been a part of has really been very stable in terms of the new believers coming as well as several seekers regularly coming. We are trying to build an open environment where seekers will be welcome while at the same time helping to establish new believers.
